Get to know Meredith Rounsley
Meredith Rounsley is a nineteen-year-old singer and songwriter from Salisbury, Maryland – a “make your own fun” kind of town nestled into the state’s eastern shore.
She grew up playing music, starting flute at the age of ten, guitar at thirteen, and is still attempting to teach herself piano properly. After discovering that her attention span wasn’t conducive to writing novels or short stories, she decided to write songs.
Meredith spent her high school years scribbling lyrics in math notebooks and leading worship at church and school chapels. Shows were played, miles were driven, and people began asking for copies of her music to have for themselves.
After all of her songs had been “mom approved,” she went into the studio and recorded her first five-track EP, ‘Short & Sweet’.
After a year of touring with new music, going to college full time, and being heavily involved in church worship ministry, Meredith is taking on a whole new adventure…
In July, she will pack her bags and move to Sydney, Australia, where she will be studying worship music at Hillsong College. “It’s definitely going to be a life changing experience,” says Rounsley, noting that relocating to a whole other country is far more ambitious than simply going away to college. “There is a huge element of trust in this whole process, which has made it the most challenging thing that I have ever done.”
In the spirit of new endeavors, Meredith is also releasing a new single before she leaves the states. Simply called “That You Love Me”, it’s a self-described bouncy tune that bears witness to the softening of a stubborn heart. “The song is about love, yes. But it’s also about a new perspective; about the types of things that make you change your mind for the better.”
She is sure to be full of new perspective as she begins life on the other side of the world, writing new songs all the while.
